To find the right styling product for you, there are 5 things you need to know. 2 things about yourself:
1) Hair Type. You don't need to be an expert, just know what your hair does and how it behaves. For example, is it thick or thin, does it naturally have volume, does it grow in particular ways? etc.
2) Hair Style. You'll need to think about the volume, hold and finish mostly.
Once you know these elements about your hair, combine them with 3 pieces of information from the product, to see if they create the look you want. This information is:
1) Hold. This is how strong the product is, and how well it keeps the hair style in shape. Consider how your hair type may work with the hold on the product you are looking at.
2) Weight. Some products are heavier/lighter in the hair than others. Think about the style you want how your hair naturally is, and if you want to add volume or take it away.
3) Finish. Lastly, what the product looks like when it's in. Is it high shine, matte, or more lived in and natural, and how does that work with the hair style you want to achieve.
